Posted one of these photos to Instagram the other day, but decided I liked them well enough to post here, also. Worn with no strings attached - no makeup, no hair product, Photoshop used only to enhance contrasts.
This dress debuted itself to my collection way back in 2010 (emphasis on the way just to articulate how "long" two years are), as the product of my budding inner minimalist. You see, when I saw the all-back version of this dress photographed in Vogue's September issue that year, I fixated myself on obtaining it - obsessed with this techie approach to LBD-style. My only goal was to find the shop online that could make it mine. But then, of course, my effort to serve the all-black minimalist in me became enthusiastically detained by the saturated contrasts and color options. How could I play it safe with black when there was a world of vibrancy begging me elsewhere? The striking playfulness of the vertically-trimmed purple on black color blocking was too tempting.
It was a sweet victory until the dress came in the mail. (But don't fret the sudden foreboding tone, this story has a happy ending!)
Initially, I was afraid the added color and body-con fit were too much for consistent wear in small-town suburbia. I was
